The Anglican Aids and Healthcare Trust (AAHT) is the Aids response for the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. The Trust aims to establish itself as a holistic and engaged ministry accessible to all in Southern Africa. Our mission is to embody the unconditional love of Christ to all through our programmes.
Founded in 2003 by the then Archbishop of Cape Town, the Most Revd Njongonkule Ndungane to implement the Isiseko Sokomeleza (Building the Foundation) programme, the organization now coordinates three programmes, each with a specific focus and funded differently, yet integrated into one ministry. AAHT aims to equip and mobilise communities to address HIV & AIDS, and other health related issues like malaria and Tuberculosis from within, and to start initiatives to care for those affected and infected, and to prevent the further spread of these diseases.
In collaboration with other relevant organizations and different sectors of our society, the Trust seeks to reduce stigma and discrimination through care and impact mitigation and to reduce HIV transmission in Southern Africa in ways that can be replicated by other organizations, in particular faith-based organizations. In this regard, increased emphasis is being placed on: prevention, voluntary counseling and testing, capacity building and training, care for orphaned and vulnerable, and home-based care, care and support for those infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.
A holistic and engaged Aids Ministry accessible to all in Southern Africa. In CHRIST, there is no difference between positive and negative. |
